Phantom by Gulf Orchid: a woody, leathery, spicy fragrance, in the dark
New for 2026 from Gulf Orchid, a UAE-based brand whose packaging bears the “Made in United Arab Emirates” label, Phantom is a 100-ml unisex woody, leathery, and spicy eau de parfum with a concentration of 70 % vol., listed under barcode 6290362166269. Its eleven-note fragrance pyramid opens with black pepper, nutmeg, and lavandin; unfolds into a heart of black leather, cypriol, Ambroxan, and patchouli; and settles on sandalwood, incense, labdanum, and moss. A dark, smoky leather fragrance presented in a ribbed black bottle featuring a turquoise and gold wildcat-eye design. Available in its authentic version at Parfumerie de Dubai.
The Ghost with Cat Eyes
You can’t see it, but it’s watching you: the wild animal’s eye on the bottle sets the tone for a fragrance that moves through the shadows. First, a thrill: a black pepper that stings, a nutmeg woody and camphor-like, and a lavandin Aromatic, wilder than lavender, it breathes life into the spice. A dry, lively opening—with no citrus or sweetness—sets the tone: black.
Then the beast emerges from the thicket: a black leather smoked, a cypriol with hints of oud and burnt earth, a patchouli dark, and the’Ambroxan which gives this feline heart its depth. It is the middle note that makes Phantom a leather fragrance with character, somewhere between saddle leather and wood smoke. The base note is the forest at night: a sandalwood creamy and soothing, a incense with dry curls, a labdanum amber and resinous, a foam damp undergrowth. Four notes that set the tone and create a sense of shadow.
Phantom is one of the darkest creations of the Gulf Orchid Collection Available in the store, and undoubtedly the most feline: while the brand loves flowers and luminous amber notes, this one prefers leather and smoke. The exception that watches the others in the dark.

Bottle design
A block of black ribbed glass, like a smooth coat or fur, the front of which opens onto a wildcat's eye : turquoise iris, vertical golden pupil, with “PHANTOM” in gold capital letters below. The hood features the same black stripes, and the case enlarges the eye design to its full height, with a turquoise border and the "By Gulf Orchid" signature.
On a shelf, it’s like a glance into a dark room: it’s the brand’s most striking bottle, and the one that best captures the essence of the fragrance—black, smoky, and feline.

How to Wear It
Smoked leather should be used sparingly: one to two sprays, neck, or wrists, and let the cypriol, labdanum, and Ambroxan do their work in the background. On a wool coat or leather jacket, the incense and moss last for several days: it’s a fragrance that literally lingers on your clothes.
Its mission is to night and the cold season : parties, concerts, winter dinners, long November walks. Billed as unisex, it embodies the spirit of classic leather fragrances: pepper and black leather appeal to men, while sandalwood, lavandin, and moss appeal to women who love fragrances with character. The ghost doesn’t choose whom it follows.
Gulf Orchid Phantom FAQ
Why is there a cat's eye on the Phantom bottle?
Because you can’t see a ghost—you just sense its presence: the wildcat’s eye, with its turquoise iris and golden pupil, is the only thing that glows in the darkness of the bottle, like the gaze of a panther in a darkened room. The fragrance follows the same concept: no citrus or floral notes to draw attention to themselves, but leather, smoke, and resins that settle in silently and linger. The name, the eye, and the scent all tell the story of the same animal.
What is cypriol?
The nagarmotha of Indian perfumers: the essential oil of a tiger nut root, distilled for centuries, with a woody, smoky, earthy, and slightly leathery scent—so similar to oud that it is often used to recreate its dark facet. In Phantom, it is the heart of the beast: it is what gives black leather its smokiness and depth, even though no oud appears in the fragrance profile. The most underrated ingredient in modern leather fragrances.
Lavandin or lavender—what's the difference?
Lavandin is a hybrid of true lavender and spike lavender; it is more vigorous, more productive, and has a more distinct scent: more camphor-like, more herbaceous, less floral, and less sweet than true lavender. It is the aromatic note in masculine fougère and leather fragrances because it adds a fresh, airy quality without any sweetness. Here, between pepper and nutmeg, it is the sole green accent in the opening, and it sets the stage for the base’s mossy notes.
Who is Gulf Orchid?
A UAE-based perfume house; the Phantom packaging indicates that it is manufactured by Gulf Orchid Perfume Manufacturing in Umm Al Quwain, one of the seven emirates, and bears the label “Made in the United Arab Emirates.” The brand is known for its graphic bottle designs and generous formulations, and Phantom represents its darker side: a smoky leather scent set amidst a collection that is otherwise more floral and amber-based. You can find the entire collection in our Gulf Orchid lineup.
