Badee Al Oud Black Exposed by Lattafa: the unfiltered oriental vanilla fragrance
A 2026 release from the renowned Badee Al Oud line by Lattafa Perfumes—one of the most widely distributed Emirati perfume houses in the world—Black Exposed is a unisex oriental vanilla eau de parfum, listed under barcode 6298043160049. Its fragrance profile opens with toffee, olibanum resin, and pink pepper; unfolds into a heart of orris root, cocoa, and healingwood; and settles on vanilla and rockrose, creating sweet, vanilla, cocoa, powdery, and caramel accords. The Fragrantica community has rated it 4.6 out of 5 based on its very first votes, noting approximately 7 hours of longevity and a strong sillage, making it primarily a fragrance for evening wear and the colder months. Available as an authentic product at Parfumerie de Dubai.
The Confectioner's Darkroom
Black Exposed is named after a photographer, and the fragrance unfolds exactly like a silver print. First bath: a toffee melt-in-your-mouth, caramelized in butter, dipped not in sugar but in the dry swirls of the frankincense resin, ritual incense, with a pink pepper which crackles like a grain of silver. The indulgence is there, but laid bare in the black light.
The developer acts on the core: the iris root, powdery and crisp like photo paper, brings to mind the image of a cocoa dark, with a hint of chocolate rather than pastry, while the healingwood, a modern term for a soft, soothing woody accord, serves as the base note. It is the most original aspect of the fragrance: a gourmand note with a sepia-toned twist.
Finally, the fixative: a vanilla profound, the backbone of publishing, backed by a cistus A resinous scent with amber undertones that gives the fragrance its vintage character. It lasts seven hours and has a strong sillage: this scent is made to last all night long.
Badee Al Oud, meaning “the wonder of the oud” in Arabic, is one of Lattafa’s most beloved lines: a family of jewel-like bottles featuring a diamond-shaped medallion, available in editions that each explore a different hue from the oriental repertoire. Black Exposed is the line’s darkest and most indulgent fragrance: one that reveals its sweetness against a black backdrop.
It's hitting the store alongside the other new addition to the line, Badee Al Oud Amethyst Fusion : “Amethyst,” a vibrant, luminous fusion; “Black Exposed,” the darkroom. Two prints from the same Emirati studio, perfect for displaying side by side.

Bottle design
The bottle in this line is now entirely black: a glass cube matte black carved with arabesques in relief on the shoulders, a matching monolithic hood, and in the center the diamond-shaped medallion Signed by Badee Al Oud, with Arabic calligraphy and a shimmering border on a charcoal-gray background; “BLACK EXPOSED” engraved at the bottom.
The object pits matte against glossy, just as juice pits incense against toffee: a dark, tactile piece that reveals its preciousness without a hint of color. On the shelf, it stands out as the negative among the prints.

Performance & sensations
The very first votes from the Fragrantica community set the bar high: 4.6 out of 5, to be confirmed as reviews come in, with lasts about 7 hours and a strong wake, the hallmark of Lattafa’s vanilla-scented oriental fragrances, where sweetness shines through while incense and rockrose provide a solid foundation.
Its light is that of the darkroom : nights, winter and fall evenings, coats, and soft lighting—where the incense-infused toffee truly comes into its own. One or two sprays are enough; a truly dual-natured fragrance, it can be shared without losing its essence—indulgence on one side, incense and iris on the other.
FAQ: Badee Al Oud Black Exposed
Is there an oud in *Black Exposed*?
Not part of the official lineup: “Badee Al Oud” is the name of the line—the wonder of oud—and each fragrance explores its spirit in its own way rather than adhering strictly to the formula. Black Exposed takes the path of rich chiaroscuro: olibanum incense, rockrose, and cocoa recreate the dark, resinous depth expected of oud, with the sweetness of toffee as a counterpoint. Lovers of pure oud will prefer other offerings in the line; fans of black vanilla will feel right at home here.
What is healingwood?
A recent addition to the repertoire, “healing wood”: it refers to a soft, aromatic, and soothing woody accord, designed to evoke woods with comforting properties rather than a specific essence. In Black Exposed, it acts as a bridge: between iris powder and cocoa, it introduces a distinct woody roundness that tempers the sweetness and sets the stage for the vanilla base.
What role does iris root play in perfumery?
One of the most precious ingredients in the craft: the iris rhizome, dried and then aged for several years before distillation, yields the famous iris butter—powdery, fresh, and slightly earthy—with the elegance of an antique powder compact. It is this ingredient that keeps the gourmand notes from veering into confectionery: here, its powdery freshness gives the cocoa a sepia hue and lends Black Exposed its veiled, almost vintage chic.
