A Legacy of Poise
“To arrogate,” in English: to claim for oneself, to lay claim to something without asking. The entire concept behind Assaf’s Arrogate collection is encapsulated in this verb, and the brand articulates it in its own way: boldness is not an impulse; it is a deliberate decision. Miss Arrogate is the feminine interpretation of this concept, and its opening sets the tone with a deceptive politeness: bergamot and grapefruit sparkling, fishing velvety, a warm welcome that gives no hint of what lies beneath.
The center features an arrangement typical of a grand home: the rose in a modern interpretation, accompanied by a Turkish rose deeper and more syrupy, the jasmine solar and the’ylang-ylang Creamy and exotic. Two roses in the same pyramid—this isn’t mere frivolity: it’s a composition with depth, the freshness of one contrasting with the depth of the other.
Then comes the true signature: a base composed of six materials where patchouli and vetiver call the shots, softened by the sandalwood, organized by the cedar, linked by the musk and a vanilla Subtle. Bergamot at the top, rose at the heart, patchouli at the base: connoisseurs will recognize the framework of the great modern chypre fragrances—that earthy elegance that gives floral scents character and a lasting impression. A signature composition by Sophie Labbé, whose dedicated page traces their career and showcases the designs available in the store.
Miss Arrogate thus complements Assaf's women's collection with its most distinctive note: the cherry blossom from Miss Sakura for spring mornings, the soft, mellow note of Miss Gris For subdued evenings, and this floral chypre for daytime wear on those days when you’re in the mood. Three bottles, three personalities: your collection is complete.

Performance & sensations
The Fragrantica community gives it 4.1 out of 5 on his first votes, with lasts about 6 hours and a strong wake : the essence of a fast-paced, active day. Patchouli and vetiver—two of the most diffusive ingredients in perfumery—keep the rose at a distance during the first few hours, before giving way to a powdery, woody base note that clings closer to the skin.
It's a scent of in broad daylight and throughout the four seasons : Citrus notes keep it fresh in the summer, woody notes warm it up in the winter, and its bold yet light profile works anywhere—from the office to important meetings. Two sprays in the morning are enough; a touch-up in the late afternoon extends its wear into the evening if your day runs long. Wear it on days when you have important decisions to make: that’s literally what it’s designed for.
Assaf's Miss Arrogate FAQ
Who is Sophie Labbé, the perfumer behind Miss Arrogate?
One of the leading figures in the world of fragrance creation: head perfumer at DSM-Firmenich after 27 years at IFF, she has been creating major successes for three decades for the most prestigious fashion and jewelry houses, with a well-known penchant for luminous florals and natural ingredients. Her inclusion in the credits confirms Assaf’s strategy: to entrust his creations to the same hands that craft haute parfumerie, and to sell the result at Gulf-market prices.
What does the name Arrogate mean?
In English, “to arrogate” means to claim for oneself: to assert a right or a place without waiting for it to be granted. Assaf has made this the philosophy behind his flagship collection, which he summarizes as follows: boldness is not an impulse but a measured decision. Miss Arrogate is the feminine interpretation of this: quiet self-assurance rather than provocation—exactly what its fragrance profile conveys, with a courteous top note and an earthy base note.
Why are there two roses in the pyramid?
Because the rose is not a single note but a family. The Turkish rose, a cousin of the Damask rose grown around Isparta, imparts a deep, syrupy, almost candied quality; the rose, interpreted in a modern way, brings the freshness of petals and a sense of clarity. By layering them, the perfumer sculpts the flower in three dimensions: you smell the garden rose and its shadow at the same time. It’s a classic compositional technique used by the great houses, rare at this price point.
Is Miss Arrogate a chypre fragrance?
It has a modern structure: bergamot at the top, a floral heart, and patchouli and vetiver at the base—the foundational triangle of the chypre family, reimagined without oakmoss, as is the case with most contemporary chypres. Officially classified as a floral oriental, it will therefore also appeal to fans of fruity chypres: it shares the same earthy elegance and character, with the rounded oriental notes of sandalwood and vanilla providing a gentle finish.
What age is Miss Arrogate suitable for?
Its chypre-floral profile naturally makes it ideal for women who want a fragrance for mature women rather than a young girl’s scent: women in their thirties and older will instinctively identify with it. But the peach note in the top notes and its luminous sillage make it perfectly wearable even in one’s twenties, for those looking to move beyond sweet, gourmand fragrances. The real dividing line isn’t age—it’s the desire for a fragrance that makes a statement.
