What is black musk?
A family of musks darker than the clean, cottony white musks: “black musk” refers to warm, slightly amber-scented, powdery musk accords—sometimes with woody or incense-like notes—that are highly prized in Gulf perfumery, where they are also sold on their own as oils. They contain no animal-derived ingredients: they are modern recreations. In Vortex, black musk lends the base note its nocturnal depth, which is more profound than white musk alone could have achieved.
