The Powdered Stallion
The name evokes the Western genre, and the pyramid responds with a bouquet: this is Wild Colt Tobacco’s first masterstroke. The opening unfolds a neroli bright, alongside her sister, the orange blossom, two interpretations of the same orange tree—one fresh and green, the other warmer and honey-colored—accompanied by a almond A soft scent whose powdery milk note foreshadows the texture of the entire fragrance. The wild stallion has a silky coat.
The heart pulls out its signature note: the violet, the quintessential powdery petal, whose slightly retro softness evokes antique powder compacts and, for connoisseurs, the scented tobaccos of yesteryear. The jasmine gives him a sunny retort, and a apricot Velvety, its fruity flesh slips between the petals: the most caressing trio in the Assaf catalog.
The background provides a solid foundation for this softness: a sandalwood creamy, the jasmine which holds on until the very last moment—a rare instance of a flower appearing twice on the pyramid—and a musk an enveloping scent that seals the whole experience like a second skin. That’s where its staying power comes from: nine hours of longevity and a sillage described as immense—the paradox of a soft, powdery fragrance that fills the room.
The score bears the signature of Christophe Raynaud, whose dedicated page traces the brand's history and showcases the designs available in the store. And for a change of scenery within the same catalog, the sunwear collection Copacabana Intense offers the perfect counterpoint: the zesty brightness of citrus on Rio’s beach, and winter evenings by the fire with the powdery scent of the stallion.

Bottle design
The bottle draws inspiration from Assaf's most spectacular architectural design, the openwork dome: on a cylinder of petrol blue glass, as deep as a winter night, the shoulder is adorned with a miniature mashrabiya featuring a geometric grid pattern, bordered by a gold collar and topped with a hood carved in the same pattern, accented with gold.
“WILD COLT TOBACCO” is displayed in white and gold capital letters on the dark glass, with “ASSAF” as the signature. The deep blue-green and gold speak volumes about the fragrance better than any words could: the powdery night and its warm light, the precious object that lets the air through, just as the fragrance lets the flowers shine through beneath its cowboy-inspired name.

Assaf's Wild Colt Tobacco FAQ
Does Wild Colt Tobacco really contain tobacco?
No: there are no tobacco notes listed in the official fragrance pyramid, and that’s the beauty of this fragrance—it’s a treasure hunt. The name evokes imagery of the wild stallion, saddle leather, and the prairie, while the scent itself reveals a powdery floral note of disarming tenderness. Lovers of real, smoked tobacco will have to look elsewhere; those who appreciate the gentle evocation of blond tobacco—that powdery, almond-like roundness—will feel right at home.
Why does the scent of violets remind us of tobacco?
It’s a fascinating story: for centuries, fine tobaccos—and snuff in particular—were scented with violet, to the point that the two scents have become inseparable in the collective memory. In fact, the violet shares with blond tobacco that powdery, slightly honeyed, and muted quality. By placing the violet at the heart of a fragrance named Tobacco, the composition plays on this ancient kinship: the tobacco is absent, yet its elegant presence is everywhere.
Who is Christophe Raynaud, the perfumer behind Wild Colt Tobacco?
One of the most sought-after perfumers in contemporary perfumery, he has created several of the biggest commercial hits for men and women in recent decades for international brands. His inclusion in the credits reaffirms Assaf’s philosophy: each creation is entrusted to a leading perfumer, who is credited by name—just as the world of fine perfumery has always done for its great creators.
Is it okay to wear Wild Colt Tobacco to the office?
Yes, as long as you use it sparingly: with a scent trail described as “enormous” and nine hours of staying power, a single spritz is enough for a day at the office—applied to the nape of the neck or the chest rather than on exposed wrists. Its clean, powdery character works in its favor: it has a gentle presence, never overpowering. Save the double dose for evening events and winter outings, where its projection becomes an asset rather than an intrusion.
Is Wild Colt Tobacco a winter fragrance?
According to the community’s votes, this is its prime season, and the olfactory logic follows: almond, powdery violet, and creamy sandalwood are like cashmere—they bloom in the cold air and nestle into scarves. Fall and spring also suit it very well on cool days. Only the height of summer calls for restraint: dense powdery notes and oppressive heat rarely go well together.
